As the title suggests, I've run into an issue with a balance I owe after amending my return.
I've got two jobs, a full-time position and a part-time seasonal job at a different employer. I filed my W2 from the full-time job through TurboTax immediately after receiving the W2, all went well. I didn't receive the W2 from the second employer until a few weeks later, and when I did file that W2, I ended up owing $569 in federal taxes. I also submitted info from a 1099 series form, but it didn't affect anything.
I paid the $569 online, but have yet to mail in my 1040x. Yesterday, I received a check from the IRS for the amount I paid for the balance due, $569. Did the IRS send me the money back because they've yet to receive the 1040x and are unaware I was paying a balance due? Also, do I need to notify the IRS that I paid online when I mail in my 1040x since I'm not sending a check in the mail to them? What should I do with the check the IRS sent me?
