Looking for financial/life advice
I’ve been following this page for a while, so I feel comfortable asking for some advice. Here is my situation: I am 23 yrs old, recently went back to college to complete the last 2 yrs of my computer science degree, I work in phone sales making between $3,500-$4,000 a month depending on the number of hours and sales I complete, and I have a baby boy on the way. Also, I do not have any debt. I pay for school with financial aid, and since I live with my parents until I finish my degree, I only have to worry about bills for utilities, phone bill, used car maintenance, insurance, and gas since I also commute 1 hr to school. I have several credit cards; which I always pay on time and in full every month. At the same time, I have a ROTH IRA account that I’ve been contributing to $1,500 per year since I opened it 2 yrs ago. I also set up 2 HYSA; one to save up to move out to an apartment and eventually a house with our son and my partner, and the other one to pay for any stuff for the baby. My partner and I are not married; however, we have plans of getting married once our situation is more stable. She lives with me at the moment, and luckily, we have the full support of both my parents and hers.
I have always wanted to be a father. However, I didn’t think it would happen at such a young age for me. I fear I’m not mature enough to raise a kid at this stage in my life, especially a man. I have to admit that I had an anxiety attack the other day at my jobs parking lot because the pressure hit me. I am a first generation college student and now a father too! Nonetheless, I am responsible for my actions, and as a man, my only choice is being strong. That’s what I try to do every day.
Would love to hear your advice. If you read all of this, I thank you so much for your time.
