It will protect you from anybody opening lines of credit in your name and screwing you over big time. At the very least, it delays enough to protect yourself.

It is! Especially if you're not doing anything with it any time soon. Let's say you're going to want to start car shopping, so you open it up to start looking for loans and lock it back after.

They've started going down the enshittification route but I have been enjoying CreditKarma all these years for the easy reports to watch my credit.
