A man has been able to live a normal life with fluid compressing his brain to 10% it's normal size

Summary

The majority of the man's brain has been destroyed. The man was found to have lost the majority of his brain when he was 14 years old.

Axel Cleeremans from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium has proposed a new theory of consciousness. He says the brain learns consciousness over and over again, rather than being born with it.

A man with only 10 percent of his brain was able to still generate a theory about himself. The man's brain is continually learning to re-describe its own activity.

Brain is very soft and the skull filled with fluid until it compressed it. It's interesting to know the brain could withstand that and continue functioning!

I wish they'd do a documentary on him. I'd love to know what "normal" was considered.

I'm morbidly curious but I feel it'll never happen since it was so long ago
