I’m going to be moving to the SD area from LA county for nursing school. It is an accelerated program and I already have a bachelors. Currently have 0 debt. I want to live in a studio with my dog, however many places require income that is 2x the rent and I am close to that but not quite, probably 1.5x the rent.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to work while in school, for sure would need to cut my hours and would not make 2x the rent. However I work from home so I did want to try at first.
I was thinking of asking my parents for help, like having them co-sign the apartment. My question is would this most likely get approved or not?
My other thought was to take out a private loan for the apartment but I’ve heard that is not advised. However if I were to choose this option, what is the likelihood that I would get approved for an apartment if the landlord knows it’s being paid with loans?
I know another option is to move in with roommates but I’d prefer to live alone. Also I’m really new to all of this so i don’t know if my questions sound dumb. Thanks!
