Summary
Incident in which a car was driven into a union demonstration in Munich on Thursday "is suspected to be an attack", Bavarian governor Markus Söder said. Police said at least 28 people were injured, two severely, when a car ploughed into a group of demonstrators. The suspect is believed to be a 24-year-old asylum-seeker from Afghanistan.
An eyewitness recalled police shooting at the car. He said that children were among those injured. A demonstration by the service workers' union Verdi was taking place at the time of the incident.
