TLDR; how bad for credit is it to be removed from an account VS let a bad one stay? My parents added me to a card as an approved user when I was a teen for emergencies/ to help my credit- now my score tanks when they bang it up. FAQ: No, they won’t accept direct financial help. Yes, I have enough other high-limit cards to keep my overall usage pretty low, but I want to get back up to excellent and that one balance skyrocketing tends to knock me down a lot. Should I ask to be removed from that account and accept the one-time hit of closing an account, or just deal with it?
