I can't think of many people who like these missions when they're shoved into games they don't belong in. Especially when the mechanics of it are half-baked and it feels tacked on. It's not fun. It's not a break from the rest of the game. It's just awful. Repetitive, tedious, frustrating, and awful.
Examples I know of are the Insomniac Spider-Man games, where you get the pleasure of playing as Mary Jane (everyone's favorite part, I'm sure), and recently Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with the chocobo wrangling missions.
It is not fun to slowly move from one piece of cover to the next. It is not fun to throw things to make people look the other way so you can walk by. It's not fun sitting in a corner waiting for a dude to move already. Lastly, it's not fun when being spotted makes you retry that entire section. These just aren't fun. Even if you don't lose, it's boring and tedious at best. It feels like a massive waste of my time. I'm playing an action game, I want to beat up bad guys, or fight giant monsters and level up. I do not want to hide behind a crate so a chocobo doesn't see me.
