Eating less can lead to a longer life: massive study in mice shows why

Summary

Metabolic changes are important, says Gary Churchill, a mouse geneticist at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. “But they don’t lead to lifespan extension”

Cutting calories by 40% yielded the longest bump, but intermittent fasting and less severe calorie restriction also increased average lifespan. The most-resilient animals lost the least weight, maintained immune function and lived longer.

Study ‘adds to the growing understanding we have that healthspan and lifespan are not the same thing’. But he also acknowledges that the study “adds’ to the ‘growing understanding we’ve that health span and lifespan aren’t the same’

Massive change in energy for me along with easily losing weight that hasn't required granular counting of calories, just a general idea of what I'm eating because I'm naturally eating less.

That's quite the endorsement! I feel like I naturally do the same pattern so it's just life for me

That's exactly it! He had quite a few quotes about living in moderation.
