I rented the car last Monday because my car was in the body shop and the shop gave me a courtesy car from enterprise. I dropped the car off at the body shop because they called me that my car is ready and I can simply just drop the courtesy car off and leave. Then on Saturday, enterprise called me saying they r doing a car wash and found a scratch damage on the roof. I obviously have no idea of this damage. I didn’t bump into anything during my use of the car, and only parked in places where it’s spacious. Also i’s a BMW X3, which it’s a SUV so it’s tall, I didn’t notice any damage during my use. When I dropped off the car at the shop, no one did a walk thru inspection either.
So now 3 days later, enterprise blamed the scratch on me and blamed me for not returning the car to enterprise directly etc. they claimed the scratch is fresh and sent a picture but all I can see is a long scratch from a white car so it can’t proof it’s from the car I used. During the initial walk thru inspection, I didn’t look at the roof because… it’s the roof… so I can’t say if the damage was already there or not. Enterprise claimed that they didn’t have this damage in the system so they claim that it’s my responsibility.
Enterprise made a report to the damage department and I’m waiting until Monday to call them.
In this case, I didn’t create the damage and it could also happened during the stay at the body shop, on the way to enterprise or during it’s stay at enterprise. I don’t think I should be blamed for something I didn’t do.
Any advice??
