Hi guys. I'm not well versed regarding taxes and I need some clarity. I got health insurance last year as it was a requirement for my school. (i'm a nursing student) Last year, I was working a small job and made around 15,000 dollars, so my rate was fairly low. This year, I am not working at all, as I am in school and it is very intense and I am living off of my fathers inheritance. Today, I went to gather all of my tax forms to submit to my tax lady. I had to access of my 1095-A form from the market place. I called the customer service and was able to get my form. However, the lady on the line asked if anything has changed with my income in order to update my account status for 2024. I told her that I make zero dollars and will not work this year. She told me to apply for Medicaid, because I have no income. I told her that I didn't want to deal with that hassle, and that I'm happy with my current health insurance to which she replied that I could owe money to government at the end of the year because I'm stating that I make 15,000 when i really make 0. Is this possible? It makes no sense to me that I would owe money for making less than what I said I was. I could understand if it was the other way around. I really just need advice on what to do, or who to contact regarding this matter. Please if something does not make sense, let me know, and I will clarify.
