I know credit card fraud happens, but in the last two months I've had fraudulent charges on two different cards - both were used in the UK and I live in the US. The fact that it's two different cards and the fraudulent attempts were both made in the UK has me wondering if I might have a bigger identity theft issue brewing? All of this in addition to someone opening on a BOA checking account in my name last year to commit Zelle fraud and I have never been a BOA customer.
My credit is frozen and has been for a while. I check my credit reports regularly - nothing astray there. I do shop online quite a bit, but only from mainstream trusted vendors and I have a background in IT and always take reasonable precautions for data privacy including never conducting financial transactions on public wifi without connecting to a secure VPN.
What do you think? Is two different cards being framed in the same country a coincidence or is there something more I should be doing other than reporting to the CC company?
