I'm about to start some work on my galley kitchen (having an over-the-range microwave with a cabinet above and spicerack next to it installed next week), but I'd like advice for other folks on two things:
The cabinet going in above the microwave is only 15 inches tall; my intention is to start my eventual complete replacement of all of my cabinet door/drawer knobs by installing these black pulls (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Liberty-Liberty-Mandara-5-1-16-in-128-mm-Matte-Black-Cabinet-Drawer-Pull-P36131C-FB-CP/310240906) in these new pieces.
The question I need to answer for myself here is: do I go with the same size pulls everywhere (I was leaning toward the 5 1/16" since most of my cabinets and drawers are tall or long enough), or do I put 3 3/4" pulls on the smaller doors and drawers (about 3 double-doored cabinets) and 5 1/16" on the bigger ones? (So, I'd have two different sizes, sometimes right next to or abobe and below each other.) My cabinet installer says this is a matter of personal preference, but I'd love to hear from those of you who've had a similar decision to make and how you felt about the end result.
Second question: I have a pitiful amount of surface area near my built-in stovetop and oven for setting any ingredients that will eventually make their way into a pot or pan and end up resorting to setting them on or between burners, which isn't stable or safe.
Has anyone found a solution, like pull-out or pop-up prep or "countertop" surfaces that can be installed in a nook like the one my gas range is built into? I'd love to see your creative solutions.
Pics and links would be great! Thanks, all!
