Hey all
I (30M) am in a bit of a conundrum. My current car is pretty much at the end of its life, and the rust and technical problems are becoming too frequent to keep up with. I'd like to lease a new car, but at the same time I know that in a years time I'd want to take a longer sabbatical, as I just feel the need to do that due to the soul draining nature of my job. That would also coincide with me (hopefully) finishing my masters degree.
Currently I'm earning the most I ever have and in that sense, for now, I'm in a financially good position to afford a new car. But at the same time, it's impossible to know exactly how life will play itself out.
At the moment I don't have any loans, I've got a (beaten up) apartment, I have a years worth of my salary saved up in the stock market and some in pension funds. No children and not tied down in any way.
During the sabbatical I'd plan to spend some time traveling around the world. After that I'd spend some time just taking it easy, being lazy, and really get some well needed rest.
If anyone can share some experiences regarding this, I'd be happy to hear it!
