Open enrollment is about to end and I need some feedback on whether to keep PPO vs switching to HDHP + HSA. Hoping to leverage the triple tax advantage to same some extra money for retirement but not sure it makes sense in our circumstance.
Family Basics:
Plan is for me(36), wife(38), and two kids (2 & 6). I generally only do yearly checkup. My wife and kids have had some recurring respiratory illness in this last year and have gone to the doctor a handful of times for evaluation plus prescriptions (antibiotics, inhalers, ect). Not sure how long that will continue or recur. Likely a seasonal thing.
PPO Info:
Premium - $245/semi-monthly Deductible - $150 ind/$450 fam Annual Out of Pocket - $2000 ind/$4000 fam
HDHP+HSA Info:
Premium - $143/semi-monthly Deductible - $3200 ind/$6400 fam Annual Out of Pocket - $5500 ind/$11000 fam HSA Employer contribution - $3200/annual
Thanks you in advance!!
