Hi. I got a new job but will not get paid for over a month, and the last paycheck from my previous job was tiny (and have been small for 2 months) due to reduced hours. I have $2.78 in the bank. I’m counting some change/dollars I had in a jar that may hit $200, but my portion of rent is $968. I didn’t tell my partner early enough that I would have no money, so they are upset (rightfully) and also do not have a spare $968. Rent isn’t late until March 5th so I have 5 days grace.
-The lease is in my partner’s name so I cannot apply for any rental assistance that requires a lease as proof.
-I thought I could use a tax return to mitigate it but it turns out I will not get a return and instead I owe several hundred.
-I don’t know anyone who could lend me $768. And even if I get a good faith loan of $768, I couldn’t pay it back until April at the soonest.
-I’ve listed multiple electronics and spare items for sale on FB marketplace, but they’ve garnered almost no attention.
-The rental company is a huge conglomerate, not a local landlord.
Is there anything I can do other than apply for one of those “we accept everyone” predatory loan that will cost me double? I’m so mad at myself and really panicking about the situation. Does anyone have any advice?
