Hi Reddit,
I'm a registered nurse with 5 years of clinical experience, and I've decided to pursue a master's program in Health Informatics starting in Fall 2024. However, I'm struggling with the ROI when choosing between two schools: Option A and Option B.
Option A costs 16k, while Option B costs 26K. Although Option B comes with a higher price tag, it is more CS/tech-focused, which I prefer. My career goal is to transition into healthcare analytics, and in general, obtaining a master's degree is preferable in my area for non-patient-facing positions.
I've researched the LinkedIn pages of alumni from both schools and noticed that Option B's alumni have more post-graduate degree experience, with many working as interns or in full-time positions as data analysts, unlike Option A's alumni.
Therefore, I'm debating whether to just get the degree itself, regardless of its value, or go for the more expensive program that could potentially pivot me into the right career role and be more value-added.
