We bought our “flipped” house in Oct 2023 and this is the kitchen situation. The sellers put in new countertops, backsplash, appliances, the island, and hardware…I am hoping to get some insight on a small makeover without any MAJOR demo…I think just a simple paint job on the cabinets and island and new hardware would really help. Next level would be a new island top and extend it out for some counter height seating around it…would that look odd in this space though? A couple of questions I have about this…
Would two toned cabinets look okay or are those “out of style”? I was thinking a dark charcoal island and white cabinets. Although I love the wood grain, I’m nervous that the floors and butcher block clash.
If I did extend the island, would that eliminate the breakfast table space? That would then be our only seating as we don’t have a table in the formal dining.
Signed, a new homeowner with decision paralysis!
The countertops and backsplash are here to stay. I am hoping to spice this area up for $6k or less.
