Summary

The emerald ash borer has killed an astounding 100 million trees in the United States. It wasn't detected in Oregon until 2022, but conservationists say it could have evaded notice for over five years.

Land managers are cutting down infested trees and treating healthy ones. The Washington County quarantine, which could grow to encompass other counties, bans the transport of firewood.

Going through Colorado and seeing the devastation these things can bring, I can understand their sadness.

Seeing all the dead trees driving the mountains or bare areas where they used to be covered is about depressing

Wish there was a good method to determine how these things come in to punish the right people

It's extremely difficult to figure this out because it could be as a simple as an egg or larvae.
