My Significant Other (SO) and I have are on a mortgage as borrower, coborrower. Our title vesting is joint tenancy. We plan on parting ways amicably and one of us will keep the mortgage. Do we need to refinance to remove the other person? If so, are we going to refinance with the terms of the current mortgage or will we need to start over with what the current terms are in the market now?
Anyone else experienced this? How did you do it? We hope to refinance to remove the coborrower, but still keep our low rate and term.
