We had fun with the last movie night. We're doing it every Saturday here: https://cytu.be/r/matrixhub
I have a list of a hundreds of movies people request I add to the list. So I always need some method to whittle down the list. Random isn't as good as asking people. So I take a list of 14 random and see what people have an interest in.

We're going to do it 7:30 Eastern, but I usually post the real announcement day of.
If you want to. I've added the downvote option because I care more about a movie being something everyone likes. For example if I have a movie like Fight Club I can tell you already it will win a 14 way contest but half the people very much do not want to watch it. So you loose half your audience because the winner is always the one people feel strongest about.
I'm kind of a voting system nerd. There's a lot our own election systems could learn about finding agreeable options. Don't blame the people, blame the system if it consistently gives you bad results.
This is also why downvoting has 2x weight. Imagine if you could 2x downvote any politician.
That's really awesome that you put a lot of thought into this!
This would be amazing!
