Summary
Almost 3,200 brick-and-mortar stores have been closed so far in 2024. That's a 24% increase from a year ago, according to a report from retail data provider CoreSight. The largest number of store closures stems from Dollar Tree's announcement earlier this year.
Dollar General, a rival of Dollar Tree, said it will add more than 800 locations this year. In second place is 7-Eleven, which plans to open more than 270 U.S. locations. Five Below, with plans to opening 227 outlets, is third.
