Hey design enthusiasts! I recently bought a 1960 mid-century modern house and I’m so torn on the ceilings… The wood is currently painted white, and there’s a lot of it. I find myself drawn to inspiration with natural wood and warmer darker colors, but I’m reluctant to strip the paint off the wood ceilings for many reasons including…
- Cost, time, and mess
- Risk of damage, or wood being flawed
- Way heavier, darker look I might regret
- Possibility of it looking dated?
- The kitchen is very white so I’d have to blend somehow.
But over in the pros list… I think it’d look amazing and true to the original style, which I love!! (See last 3 pics for inspiration)
Any advice? Talk me out if it? Talk me into it? Alternate options like installing new wood over the top, or painting it not-white? I’m very open! (Also you can ignore all current furniture in the pics)
