I'm a new home owner and we bought an old house last year and have been working on updating the house before we move in. We've been milling on the kitchen layout for months and finally arrived at the below two options.
The biggest issue in the house is poor lighting so we wanted to open up the kitchen more to let lighting into the dining and living room area. Unfortunately all the horizontal walls are load bearing so we cannot take out all the walls. Option A is as much as we can take out.
You can see the two options here: https://imgur.com/a/WTJ1A4U
Option A is more similar to our current kitchen layout. I'm not sure how I feel about pass through windows though, are they a bit too dated? Also the stove is at a bit of an awkward position with a 14 inch tabletop on the left and being right next to the pass through window.
Option B allows for more of an open kitchen concept. However the foyer will be more closed off. Given it's narrow with no natural light, it might not be a very inviting first impression.
Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance :)
