I've been doing a small monthly stock purchase thru Computershare for over 20 years along with reinvesting the dividends. I'm a few years out from retirement and the stock price is at place that I'm considering selling my shares. I'm not entirely clear what I'll owe in taxes. I dumped all my transactions into a spreadsheet and here are some numbers
Total from my monthly purchases - $17000
Total from the dividend reinvestments - $12000
Total sell price - $45000
I've not sold any stock before so this new to me. How do I do the tax calculation or is that a form Computershare will send me like the 1099-DIV I get each year?
thanx
