To the heart of my question first. Is there any kind of reloadable debit cards they can use that has to be used in person, can not be used online and are not linked to a bank account but are not just gift cards and have some kind of app we can use to track the spending and freeze the card if it gets lost or stolen.
For the backstory.
We are supporting a relative who we believe has some kind of early onset dementia. Basically their body is ok shape for their age but their mind failed them. They can not work, they are too young for social security by age, and after they were scammed several times banks will not give them an account unless we put our names on it. We give them spending money to buy things at the corner store but we cant give them cash because they just give it all to various homeless people. We are trying to get them into a memory care facility but the wait times are years long and they are reluctant to take people who are physically fit. We are trying to get them social security but that also takes time and doctors visits.
