just look...

  1. a place that offers me the chance to interact with various programmers in chat rooms
  2. a place where I can send and receive files such as images and documents
  3. a place where I can post things and interact with other people in the comments of my can
  4. a place where I can post trends and upload several images in the same post so that people get to know my work or things that I identify with.
  5. a place where I can talk freely and make new friends, all for free and without ads. Fuck me, I think we should all be there, guys. join now https://chat-to.dev

I just can't get into the chat aspect for dev related info, I get lost pretty quickly as the threads grow. It's why it baffles me that Discord ever became an information hub for communities.

you have two ways of solving this. you can create a room in which you are the moderator/creator or you can just be in charge of posts or comments. that way you control what interests you and what doesn't.

It is still going to run into the same general problem of chat rooms in general. You could try and solve it with additional threads, a la Slack, but the discussion threads still wind up getting lost in the noise. Just this series of comments, for example, would have gotten interspersed between 5 other comments by the time I was able to answer you. There is a cognitive load there to try and find the relevant answers. I know some people like it, clearly Discord has grown as a medium, but it makes it difficult for people like me wanting to follow a specific conversation.

I'm confused about what the trends are supposed to be? It just seems to be trending news with just images and no other context?

Well, trends is a feature designed for those users who contribute a lot to the site. That is, those who have a large number of posts or conversations in the rooms are able to post things that are trending for them: like news, an event, a service, a product or even something personal like an article or a good. But for now it's just done with several images and a title, and people will talk about it in the comments.

So "power users" get priority in appearing that the top? Isn't that what did Diggs in, where power users got to control the content that most people saw?

yes, those who participate the most will have their rooms at the top, but that's only because the algorithm was programmed that way and we think it's fair to have that order. because some people create a room, leave 3 messages and never come back. As for TRENDS, it's the sum of the highest number of chats and posts.
